Setting up of 3 new Masters
In view of the institutional reforms at the School, the DESS has ended to make way for 4 new Masters (three professional Masters and one research Master) in accordance with the LMD system, Thanks to the support of the School by the experts of the University of Liege (Belgium) and to the institutional collaboration of several partner institutions of ERAIFT in Central Africa including the University of Dschang, the University of Yaoundé I, the National School of Water and Forests of Gabon, the USTM/Gabon, the University of Kisangani, etc. ).
Since its creation in 1999 until 2015, UNESCO has coordinated the activities of the School. It is financed by many Technical and Financial Partners including the European Union.

Establishment of a Regional Research Master
In June 2015, ERAIFT, UNIVERSITE de KISANGANI (Democratic Republic of Congo), Université des Sciences et Techniques de Masuku (USTEM) (Gabon), Ecole Nationale des Eaux et Forêts (Gabon), Université de Dschang (Cameroon), Université de Yaoundé 1 (Cameroon) signed a cooperation and mobility agreement to jointly set up a Regional Research Master in accordance with the LMD system.

Opening ceremony of the ERAIFT
The solemn opening ceremony of IRAIFT took place at the University of Kinshasa, under the presidency of Prof. Kamara Rwakaikara, Minister of National Education of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on Saturday April 10, 1999. This brilliant ceremony included four parts: the academic procession; the academic session, held in the Salle des promotions Mgr Luc Gillon, where the speeches of circumstances were pronounced; the inauguration of the "Château" by the Minister; the cocktail, offered on the lawns of the Château.

ÉRAIFT's creation
ÉRAIFT has its headquarters in Kisangani, temporarily transferred to Kinshasa, on the campus of the University of Kinshasa, 25 km from the city, opposite the Centre Hospitalier du Mont-Amba (CHMA). It has at its disposal infrastructures put at its disposal by the Congolese Government and rehabilitated with funds from the European Union.

A key role
To highlight and perpetuate the major role played by the late Dr. David Kabala Matuka in the creation of the ÉRAIFT, the auditorium of the Château was dedicated to him and a commemorative plaque was affixed. It bears the following inscription :

Recommendations
Among the specific recommendations of this seminar was recommendation 4 which dealt with the "creation of an institution with a regional vocation for the training of specialists in tropical forest environment management". This seminar was organized by UNESCO and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and received financial support from the ACCT.

Origin of the name ERAIFT
ERAIFT has its origins in the N'Sele Declaration, adopted at the end of the Regional Seminar on Strengthening Cooperation for the Rational Management of the African Tropical Forest, held in N'Sele (Democratic Republic of Congo)
